Initial stages of anticipated Perth Stadium complete

The long-awaited Perth Stadium is a step closer to hosting its first event, after construction of the arena's façade was completed. 

A major milestone for the project – full configuration of the façade as designed and installed by Yuanda – has been delivered within budget and schedule, allowing the builders to push towards completion of the overall project.

Yuanda Australia used 36 kilometres of aluminium feature cladding to create the distinctive exerior, which is reminiscent of a rocky outcrop.

The stadium's façade took 38 local workers 14 months to construct.  When completed, the new stadium will have a seating capacity of 60,000, and will play host to a range of sporting and entertainment events.

Yuanda Australia General Manager Graham Romer said the company was elated to see the designs for the project come to life, and to see the final shape of the new stadium.

"Yuanda Australia has been operating for more than a decade, and it’s been a privilege for us to work on some of Australia’s most iconic projects,” Mr Romer said.

“However, I doubt that many of them will bring more joy and excitement to as many people as the new Perth stadium.

"We're proud to see the end result of our design and construction achievements that will work to advance Perth as one of the country's leading entertainment destinations. 

Mr Romer said Yuanda was humbled to have been given the opportunity to work with the Western Australian Government on the project, and deliver a state-of the-art stadium ahead of the 2018 AFL season that will benefit generations of sports lovers for years to come.
