Yuanda set to design and build striking new façade in Sydney's CBD
Yuanda Australia has been awarded the contract to manufacture and install the façade for one of Sydney’s most high-profile constructions – the $750 million flagship development on Sydney's prestigious Martin Place.
The trusted façade and curtain wall manufacturing firm will work on the design and construction of the 33-storey skyscraper's exterior, which will pay homage to the existing site's sandstone heritage while adding a modern flair that will complement the area's recent upgrade.
Yuanda Australia General Manager Graham Romer said the company wanted to pay tribute to the heritage of Martin Place and incorporate the office tower's original façade, but at the same time ensure that the building's design brings it into the future.
"Our designs ensure that the history of the 1960s-vintage Westpac building remain intact,” Mr Romer said.
"The 20,000sqm façade will be constructed using 4240 glass and aluminium panels, resulting in a sustainable work and public event precinct."
Mr Romer said the development’s position – across from the heritage-listed St Stephen's Uniting Church, would be reflected strongly in the building’s façade.
"We expect that the Church's existing copper spiral will be reflected on the sparkling glass panelling of the façade,” Mr Romer said.
"We think the juxtaposition of the traditional architecture and sandstone of Martin Place and the striking modern elegance of the new façade will point strongly to the future of the area, and the wider Sydney CBD."
The façade design of 60 Martin Place will reflect Yuanda's company philosophy that focuses on delivering high-level projects that exceed market expectations through experience and an unmatched commitment to quality.
Construction of the facade is expected to be completed in mid-2019.
